Use tags to organize and index information. Sometimes allow users to rank or discuss items.

Need to collaboratively collect and annotate sources for a literature review. Agree on a tool & a set of tags, and everyone forages. We did this for the Learning Patterns project literature review.

http://diggdot.us/	Meta-digging	Aggregate top links from http://digg.com, http://slashdot.com and http://del.icio.us. Try to add some extra quirks.
http://targetyournews.com/	the push side	Experimental service tries to target information to interested individuals.
http://www.connotea.org/	Academic research oriented	tags, academic refernce fields, discussions, attempt to link people. by Nature Publishing Group's New Technology team.
http://www.blinklist.com/	international and tech-focused social bookmarking.	social bookmarking along the lines of del.icio.us, using tags. Also provides message board, user profiles, ability to search within group of friends, etc. Encouraging competition to accumulate 'fans' of your 'blinks'.
