Bioinformatics Online Modular Degree Programme

What can you expect from our distance learning courses in bioinformatics?

In the development of a course technical and subject experts work together to produce stimulating and interesting teaching materials, rather than bland “page turning” devices. Much emphasis is placed on incorporating interactivity such as animations, quizzes, practical exercises, mini-case studies and simulations.

Courses are delivered from our Virtual Learning Environment “Moodle”. Moodle is a web environment which helps to extend the classroom onto the web. It provides a range of tools to enhance our teaching activities, including communication tools, wikis and feedback tools.

Students are offered plenty of tutor support throughout a course. All our courses are led by experienced course tutors many of whom are actively involved both in face-to-face teaching and cutting-edge research. You will be taught in a small group using a combination of on-line chat tutorials and course bulletin boards. The example below shows how the bulletin board is used in 'Bioinformatics for Systems Biology'.

You can take one or two courses, and then decide whether you would like to work towards a Masters degree.
